The Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at the University of Chicago invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor specializing in modern Arabic literature (19th-21st centuries), preferably with expertise in another literature of the Islamic world, expected to begin in Autumn 2015.
The successful applicant will have a research and teaching profile with expertise in at least one, and preferably several, of the following sub-fields of literary studies: religion and literature; the modern novel; modern poetry; narrative prose and narratology, postcolonial theory; gender studies; and media studies. Candidates should have a thorough grounding in Arabic, preferably with additional expertise in another language of the Islamic world. The successful candidate will be expected to teach classes dealing with the modern literatures of the Muslim World for both graduate and undergraduate students. Yale-NUS College, a collaboration between the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Yale University, is seeking to hire one or more open rank faculty members in history. We are particularly interested in candidates who work in the area of the history of the Islamic World (open period). Dear Colleagues,
On the occasion of ۲۴۰۰ years since the birth of Aristotle, the International Association of Greek Philosophy, the Greek Philosophical Society, the Philosophical Society of Cyprus and other Societies, Associations and Educational Institutions have decided to organize a World Philosophy Congress on the Philosophy of Aristotle, under the Auspices of the International Federation of Philosophical Societies (FISP).
This Congress will take place in Athens where Aristotle lived most of his life. He studied and taught at Plato’s Academy for nearly 20 years and later he founded the Lyceum where he taught and composed great works, and where the foundations of philosophical and scientific research were brought into being.
