The Department of Religious Studies at the University of Pittsburgh seeks to appoint a tenure-stream assistant professor of modern/contemporary Islam to begin September 1, 2015, pending budgetary approval. Geographical area and methodological approach are open. Teaching would include introductory courses on Islam (including premodern Islam) and upper-level courses in the candidate’s areas of expertise. We welcome candidates who can develop thematic and comparative courses in broader religious contexts, especially religion and globalization, politics/conflict, gender and sexuality, film, or medicine/science. Preference will be given to candidates whose work complements existing areas of geographic strength in the department or cognate departments, programs, and centers at the University. PhD expected at time of appointment. Applications should include a cover letter indicating teaching and research interests, CV, representative article-length writing sample, sample syllabi, and 3 letters of reference. بیشتر بخوانید
