Classical Arabic Literature
Princeton University’s Department of Near Eastern Studies invites applications for an open-rank position in Classical Arabic Literature. Research expertise may be in any period of Arabic literature before 1800, and may focus on any region where there was significant production of creative literature in Arabic poetry or prose. The successful candidate will, however, be expected to introduce undergraduates to the classics of Arabic literature of the late pre-Islamic and the early Islamic centuries in translation, and to provide training to graduate students reading texts of this period in the original Arabic.
