Abstract:
To honor Professor Negahban, I take great pleasure in this opportunity to discuss a small collection of terracotta figurines housed in the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum in San Jose, California. Labeled as Ishtar fragments, the figures are similar to those of the Elamite period found at such sites as Susa, Chogha Zanbil, and Haft Tappeh. Based on stylistic comparisons to figurines found at Susa, and Haft Tappeh, it is feasible to date this small collection to the Middle Elamite period (1500-1000 BC). In this article, only a few of the better-preserved pieces of both male and female figurines will be discussed.
