{"id":2770,"date":"2023-06-21T12:39:15","date_gmt":"2023-06-21T09:09:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/atharebartar.com\/en\/?p=2770"},"modified":"2023-06-21T12:45:28","modified_gmt":"2023-06-21T09:15:28","slug":"program-islamic-law","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atharebartar.com\/en\/program-islamic-law\/","title":{"rendered":"Program in Islamic Law"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are pleased to announce the publication of the <a href=\"https:\/\/harvard.us13.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=8b92c9ea0db629b61c0751b0d&amp;id=446c45baa2&amp;e=fa09c813c0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">fourth issue <\/a>\u00a0of the open-access, peer-reviewed\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/harvard.us13.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=8b92c9ea0db629b61c0751b0d&amp;id=327aeaccdf&amp;e=fa09c813c0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Journal of Islamic Law<\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\">, a special issue\u00a0<\/span>titled &#8220;The Dynamics of Islamic Law with the Rise of Modernity.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>We invite you to digitally explore the fourth issue\u00a0which\u00a0explores the interactions between Islamic law and other legal traditions during the modern period, particularly in the contexts of colonialism, imperialism, and centralized bureaucratic states from the eighteenth to early twentieth centuries. The three essays in the issue contribute to the ongoing scholarly debates that present contrasting views on the fate of <i>shar\u012b\u02bfa<\/i> during this period. Between the two sides of this debate, there is a space ripe for exploring the fitness and movement of Islamic law in the contested period between tradition and modernity.<\/p>\n<p>This special issue includes an introduction by this Special Issue\u2019s Editor and current PIL Research Fellow,\u00a0<b>Dilyara Agisheva\u00a0<\/b>(Harvard Law School), and essays by\u00a0<b>Brian Wright <\/b>(McGill \u00a0University), <b>Ninja Bumann <\/b>(University of Vienna), and <b>Rozaliya Garipova<\/b> (Nazarbayev University),\u00a0that illustrate the interaction of <i>shar\u012b\u02bfa <\/i>within the imperial and nascent nation-state legal systems with the coming of modernity.
