Abstract:
\nThe Discoveries made at Susa, Al Untash-Napirisha (modern Chogha Zanbil) and Kabnak (Haft Tappeh) form the basis for the study of the Middle Elamite Period (ca. 1600-1000 BC). The archaeological assemblages from these sites dated to the last half of the second millennium are not as rich or “international” as those discovered in many sites in Syro-Mesopotamia and the Levant. This situation is, in part, because the monumental buildings found at both Kabnak and Al Untash-Napirisha were cleared-out before they were abandoned. Most of what has been recovered from these towns are small objects and craft residues. An examination of the archaeological contexts and contents of the assemblages from Kabnak and Al Untash-Napirisha when seen in relation to the available textual information leads us to the conclusion that Elamite Susiana was nevertheless involved in the larger world of the Late Bronze Age primarily through their links with Kassite Babylonia.<\/p>\n
