The journal Memoria y Civilización, published by the Department of History of the University of Navarra (Spain), is preparing an issue to be published in December 2015 on: Muslim Views of the West.
For several decades, historians and other social scientists have addressed the question of how the West had seen the future of the Islamic world, with its errors, distortions and stereotypes. This was evident again after the attack of 11-S in New York and, more recently, during the events arising from the so-called “Arab Spring”, especially in countries of North Africa and the Middle East. However, in this issue is intended to analyse the question of how an image of the West has been built over the centuries in the Muslim world with, probably, similar distortions and stereotypes. Approaches from various fields such as Literature, Art, Politics and History are welcomed.
The deadline for article’s submission is July 31st, 2015. Items submitted will follow the blind peer review evaluation.
